The challenges WE AIM to address

Financial authorities around the globe are starting to leverage next-generation suptech – including GenAI – for interactive chatbots, dynamic risk management systems, and other advanced suptech applications.

Despite advancements in analytics through AI and Machine-Learning, many financial authorities are limited in the aggregate data they receive through compliance filings. Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) facilitate the automated ingestion and validation of granular data, ensuring clean data is in place and allowing everyone to harness benefits in the form of actionable and trustworthy results. Currently, financial authorities are required to provide comprehensive funding for the development and design of APIs, starting from scratch for each use case.

The adoption of API standards, enabling tools and open source software can play a critical role in driving inclusive growth, fostering competition and innovation, and enhancing financial inclusion.

Questions that might be addressed include:

What are the parameters needed for the design of an open-source API to accommodate diverse supervisory needs across different jurisdictions and regulatory contexts?
How can APIs help financial authorities transition from aggregate data reporting to granular data exchange while accounting for data governance needs?
What are the best practices for integrating next-generation suptech tools with standardised APIs to enhance supervisory capabilities?
How can APIs be utilized to enable financial institutions to effectively communicate their asset-related climate risks to supervisors?
What role can API standards, enabling tools, and open source software play in fostering greater collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders in the financial ecosystem?

Expected Outcomes

Participants will be expected to present a working demo that highlights how their solution delivers against three core components of a technical solution and associated value proposition:

Schema: A proposed approach for streamlining development of data standards, powered by FINOS’s Morphir, OS-C, Legend and other Common Domain Model tools.

Builder: Tailoring of an API builder to generate documentation, server and client libraries, powered by Swagger’s open source tools and Open API Specification,

Intelligence: A demonstration of how a unified schema and associated API can drive analysis that is deeper and/or more efficient, powered by the Lab’s Data Gymnasium .

This hackathon is for you!

This hackathon is open to teams or individuals with skills in data science and analysis, business analysis, product management, software development, database administration, data visualisation, team leaders, and/or other skills valuable in exploring solutions using advanced technology.

Business analyst

You understand how to link problems with technology solutions and can talk the language of the technologists and users.

Data engineer or database architect

You understand the nuances of piping data from source to storage, such as the value of a well-designed schema and the merging of multiple datasets.

Product specialist or developer

You can think through how to develop and design a product that will meet the needs of the different users and be viable to implement.

Team leader

In addition to a team role, you will be responsible for curating your team, managing its timeline and deliverables, and acting as point person for organisers.

Data visualisation designer

You can make data and insights pop by designing and curating interfaces that are intuitive and clear.

Data scientists and data analysts

You are able to build usable views and valuable insights from complex data, spot opportunities for advanced data analytics and identify schema requirements.

Incentives and benefits for participants

This hackathon is open to teams or individuals with skills in data science and analysis, business analysis, product management, software development, database administration, data visualization, team leaders, and/or other skills valuable in exploring solutions using advanced technology.
